Family, orderliness, and halloween activities

This week was a ton of fun. Tuesday started with the kids making Name Cards for each of their family members. They traced each name and then decorated the cards to place at their tables.
That activity was followed with an orderliness relay and the kids organized different items as fast as they could.

We also worked on our family trees on Tuesday. We talked about family members that could be in our families today such as Mom, Dad, Brothers and Sisters and then worked out to cousins, aunts, uncles and maybe those who have passed such as great grandma's and grandpa's. The kids named as many as they knew and then took home more leaves to add to their trees as they learned about more people in their families.

After talking about their families, they got a chance to make their family out of clay.
Although the clay was difficult to mold, it did not stop the kids and the activity was a HUGE hit!

Today was a blast!
We began preschool by reading, "The little old lady who wasn't afraid of anything" this book is always a hit and makes the kids laugh.

After reading, 2 kids worked on creating letters out of wood pieces as I worked with 1 child to write in their journal a Halloween story based on a Halloween sticker of their choice.

This was the BEST WRITING ACTIVITY EVER! The kids absolutely LOVED telling their story and talked so fast I could barely keep up! It was the most any of them have talked for a journal/ story entry.

After writing, we did some ABC - PE
The kids got to help me come up with different movements based on a letter such as "move like an Airplane" for A and others such as C - "creepy crawlers" D - dog and H - horses.

In math we worked with 1-1 correspondence again today using monsters and monster eyes.

For art we did Apple Roll Painting which turned out amazing and so much fun!

Alphabet tubes, Market and Hopscotch

Tuesday started with upper case alphabet tube matching.
The boys matched each alphabet sticker to the correct letter on the tube.

We then took a break for some hopscotch
The boys got so excited about it and were convinced each square needed a number so we added numbers and jumped in order!

For Math we read the book "Don't forget the oatmeal" and talked about different items we would buy in a store. We then created our own Market and took turns being the cashier and the customer.

More with Apples, Yoga and Names

Tuesday was fun as it began with a Halloween story which the kids loved so much they begged to have it read not once, or twice but 3 times!

We then learned another apple finger play (or two) to go with our monthly apple theme.

For our P.E. the kids learned some animal yoga moves that were a big hit:)

In math the kids learned about patterns and made their own patterns using apple cut outs and pattern cards.

Apple sensory!
Delicious smelling Apple Cloud Dough plus leaves and stems made the perfect play apples on Tuesday.

Thursday's activities began with printing names in which the kids traced their name in different ways (and wrote it themselves!)

After writing name we took a quick walk out to the apple orchard to see where apples grow.

Math included tasting different kinds of apples and deciding how they each taste similar or different and then graphing which one was each of our favorite.
They decided that some tasted sweeter, like smarties, and others tasted sour (maybe like sour cream) and most of us decided we liked the Golden Delicious apple best.

After eating our apples we used the rest for art and apple stamping!
